Kate Loves Color, Too!
Have you seen the Kate Spade store in NYC? Live Modern wrote a great article about the store's redesign and got all the details, right down to the fact that Kate's offering hula hoop lessons with lemonade. Now that's refreshing!
From a color & design standpoint, it's really a great example of literally bringing color into a space. And I'm drawn to it because it's just so happy! I suppose retailers are suffering in many places, but Kate Spade is adding a bit of sunshine with their newly designed Fifth Avenue storefront.
The color starts on the sidewalk and draws you into the store! I think it works because it's a contninuous design treatment on many different surfaces, both horizontal and vertical.
The concept is a celebration of the pattern on pattern on pattern, which is so contemporary right now! But this isn't your grandmothers drapery, wallpaper, duvet matching kind of pattern. It's slick, inventive, and most importantly, it's full of color! If you're in New York this weekend and want to add a little happy to your weekend, stop into their store.
Also, for those of you interested, Kate Spade is running a Hawaii or Bust contest-- go to www.katespade.com to enter this getaway for two to the Moana Surfrider Hotel (Westin) on Waikiki Beach. I'll let you know if I win and hope you do the same!
