Share Your Spring Makeover Ideas

Spring is in full swing and it's time for each of us to figure out which decorating projects to start.  It has to be quick, simple, colorful (of course), and brilliant!

House Beautiful gives fun fresh tips like this one from Raymond Waites:  "Have a party where every guest is asked to bring a plant of one color-- say, purple-- for an instant garden with a little story of friendship behind each plant."  The colorful memories live on long after your party!

White sheets
Find these personalized sheets complete with a touch of color from Pottery Barn here.

Stylecaster's Nina Freudenberger suggests using crisp white sheets to "Keep your bedroom serene".  She says it will "freshen up the entire look.  Simple accent colors are great-- choose a simple piping or border, rather than an all-over pattern.

I've got a few ideas to share later this week, but first, what spring decorating or makeover ideas do you have in store to bring spring into your home?

The Best Painting Project Begins With...

What does it take to keep the "pain" out of painting?

It's really just all about planning ahead, being mindful of your goals, and having some fun!

Sam Gaines is a very enthusiastic reporter I spoke with about about paint and how to get a project off the ground successfully.  I comfortably let my inner Paint Geek loose for these articles.  Take a look and how to pick paint and how to have a great painting day, too.

The Paint Gurus

While I live by color and design, some others live by open time and spatter resistance.  Whether you're using your right brain or your left, Benjamin Moore's got your back.

Paint guru

My technical counterparts at Benjamin Moore, Mike Branch, Don Gordy, Mike Mundwiller, and Kevin Policay are four people who have some serious coating application know-how.  Well, in other words, they know and love everything about paint.

They're bringing you all their expertise with a new blog, Paint Gurus.  These guys can answer any and every question you can come up with about paint.  Go ahead, try them!

You know you're a paintophile if you've ever found yourself wondering...

How do they paint observatories in Hawaii

What is the cause of 99% of all paint job problems?

Does "green" paint matter?

Even if you've never pondered these points, check out the Paint Gurus for some great stories and advice.  The technical story behind paint is as important as the color you choose.  You can make smart decisions when you know a.)  What kind of paint to use on a garage floor, b.)  What finish will work best in a bathroom, and c.)  How you can clean spaghetti off a painted kitchen wall.

Answers: a.)  Waterborne Polyamide Epoxy P42 in a variety of colors  b.) Flat or Satin.  Aura Bath and spa or Benjamin Moore's Kitchen & Bath allow you to have sophisticated lower sheen walls that still resist moisture and mildew  c.)  If you've used a good quality paint like the ones from Benjamin Moore, that greasy mess should wipe off well with a sponge, a little water, and a bit of laughter, leaving you time to figure out who started the food fight.
