Giving Our Gifts To Others

Over the last ten days, Kathy from HomeWorkshop.com and I have had such a blast with all of you.  Every day, we gave amazing gifts away to people who were as excited to receive them as we were to gift them!  (list to come later today!)

Our last day was centered around community service and giving back as we look forward in our lives.  What better day to announce our winning charities that will receive the two gifts than on this day that honors Martin Luther King Jr. with a National Day of Service and Remembrance?

Thank you to everyone for sharing ideas on how to give back, and compassion for each organization we listed through your comments and emails.

Our $100 prize was won by Arlene who chose ShelterBox to be the recipient.  This gift is from Kathy and me.  A nice bonus:  my portion will be matched by Benjamin Moore, so the total gift will be $150.  Arlene was "moved by what the organization is doing, especially for those so desperately in need right now in Haiti."  The boxes contain essential survival supplies like a ten-person tent, water purifying equipment, and coloring books for children.

The $500 prize from Benjamin Moore will be given to the organization that received the most votes on our article...DIFFA, Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.  Benjamin Moore and many others have supported DIFFA throughout the years with events like Dining By Design

Thanks again to all of you who voiced your opinion and continue to give back in your own ways everyday.  To celebrate today as our National Day of Service and Remembrance, what will you do?
